Dorkness Rising Returns

Dead Gentlemen Announces a New Edition of THE GAMERS: DORKNESS RISING

Dorkness Rising DVD Cover

For the new release, Dead Gentlemen Productions is partnering with sister company and distributor Zombie Orpheus Entertainment (ZOE). ZOE will release the DVD under their FAN SUPPORTED, CREATOR DISTRIBUTED model (link). This includes a broad non-commercial Creative Commons license (link), a copyleft approach to file-sharing and “piracy”, licensing the property for third-party commercial derivative works via the Creator Endorsed trademark (link), a digital release through distribution partner IndieFlix, and distribution to the worldwide hobby market through Paizo Publishing.

“ZOE is a company that believes in building long-term, sustainable relationships with a passionate fan base,” says Ben Dobyns, founder of Zombie Orpheus Entertainment. “Dorkness Rising is a fantastic fit for our approach to distribution and we look forward to helping the film continue to grow as we empower its fans to download, share, and remix the project.”

“We at DG are just really excited about what Ben is doing with ZOE,” said Don Early, President of Dead Gentlemen Productions, LLC. “Having direct interaction and access to our fan base has always been at the top of our priorities. With traditional distribution, you lose a lot of that. With ZOE, the fans get to directly support and participate in what we’re doing, and we get to stay connected. That’s what we’re all about.”

“We’re also excited about this new release of Dorkness Rising,” continues Ben Dobyns, “because this distribution model will help make a Gamers sequel happen much sooner. Our biggest sequel roadblock has been recouping Dorkness Rising’s budget. With the increased dollar value of direct distribution, we’ll be able to recoup and start work on a sequel much sooner than we could while waiting for traditional distribution models to pay out.”

The new DVD of The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is expected to release in April 2011. Fan content and submissions will be encouraged!

Jen Page

Jen Page has an all-consuming passion for film acting. She is open to exploring all genres but there is a special place in her heart for sci-fi, fantasy and action films. Among others, Jen has played a chaotic sorceress rogue, a rebellious alien, a vampire and a godling. She loves the opportunity to work with a creative, passionate crew and take on characters that challenge her emotionally and physically.

Jen Page herself is a bit of a bohemian/geek/artist/nonsensical/tough girl/gamer/fey who really digs pixels, nerds, roller coasters, gaming, sci-fi/fantasy, music, and squirrels.

But not necessarily in that order.

Don Early

Don Early is the director of Dead Gentlemen Productions, a group of filmmakers located in the Seattle/Tacoma area of the Pacific Northwest, as well as Los Angeles, CA. Their recent film The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, is currently distributed byAnthem Pictures and Paizo Publishing. Dead Gentlemen met each other over 1996–97 while attending Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. Between 1998 and 2000, the Dead Gentlemen filmed two feature films: Demon Hunters, and its sequel, Demon Hunters: Dead Camper Lake. The films were met with great acclaim on campus. In 2001 they shot what would be their flagship property for many years to come, a 45-minute featurette called, The Gamers. With the success of The Gamers, in 2002 the group founded Dead Gentlemen Productions, LLC. Since then, Dead Gentlemen Productions produced several comedy sketches and short films, the high definition feature The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, and co-produced with Margaret Weis Productions, creating the Demon Hunters Roleplaying Game, containing the newly canonized world of their original Demon Hunters and a short film entitled: The Brotherhood Orientation Video. To this very day the Dead Gentlemen exercise their super power of unmatched collaboration to create projects together.

Halloween MusicAbout The Dead Matter movie:
A guilt-ridden young woman desperate to contact her deceased brother discovers a powerful ancient relic that controls the dead.  Her dark obsession drags her into the tangled world of two warring vampire lords (Andrew Divoff of LostWishmaster and Tom Savini ofFriday the 13thDawn of the Dead) each with his own sinister plans for the artifact and a vampire hunter (Jason Carter of Babylon 5) who will stop at nothing to destroy it.
This chilling gothic dark fantasy co-produced by Robert Kurtzman (creator of From Dusk Till Dawn, KNB FX) features a haunting score by Halloween musicians Midnight Syndicate.  It’s a mix of classic horror themes with modern twists and a touch of dark humor that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

“Doubt” Scott C. Brown

Doubt

That’s right, you can see Scott C. Brown in the play “Doubt”. See below for details.

RUNNING FOR 3 WEEKS!
May 20 – June 6

Thurs – Sat at 8PM; Sun at 2PM

(Doors open 1 hour in advance)
In this brilliant and powerful drama, Sister Aloysius, a Bronx school principal, takes matters into her own hands when she suspects the young Father Flynn of improper relations with one of the male students. Certainty, doubt, and duty struggle for the upper-hand, and what is “right” is as elusive as the truth.

What has the press said about Shanley’s Doubt?

“It is an inspired study in moral uncertainty with the compellingly certain structure of an old-fashioned detective drama… It sends off stealth charges that go deeper emotionally. It is tight and absorbing.” — Ben Brantley, New York Times

“#1 show of the year. Gripping. Impressive! Doubt takes the stuff of headlines and turns it into deeply moving drama.” — Howard Kissel, Daily News

And the rave reviews go on and on.
