Kickstarter Successful! 24 Hours Remaining!

24 Hours Left! You guys are amazing! We’ve entered the final 24 hours of our The Gamers: Hands of Fate Kickstarter campaign, and not only have we reached our goal, we’ve already blown past our first two stretch goals. That means that not only are we making Gamers 3, but we’ll also be producing an exclusive The Shadow (The Shadow? The Shadow!) miniature, and everyone who pledged more than $100 will be receiving a DVD of The Gamers: Live, filmed at GenCon Indy 2012. Awesome, right? You did that, and we can’t thank you enough!

But we’ve got one more trick up our sleeves! If we hit $380,000 before 8:00pm tomorrow night, AEG, makers of Legend of the Five Rings, will produce the 15th Anniversary “Romance of the Nine Empires” Boxed Set–a fully playable version of the game featured in The Gamers: Hands of Fate! How’s that for an incentive? And we’re close, you guys! So close! Less than $20,000! You’ve got 24 hours, people, so go! Every dollar helps. Worst case scenario, Gamers 3 will be one dollar more awesome than it could have been.

Dead Camper Lake on Film Inflicted Trauma

The fabulous folks at Film-Inflicted Trauma have made good on their threats to follow up their fair and balanced lambasting of Demon Hunters with an equally sentimental-yet-scathing review of our sophomore effort, Dead Camper Lake.  Check it out!

Demon Hunters on Film-Inflicted Trauma

Well, THIS was a surprise!

In 1999, the Dead Gentlemen unleashed Demon Hunters, our first feature film, on an unsuspecting college campus and, subsequently, the world. Today, the folks at Film-Inflicted Trauma have reviewed Demon Hunters in exacting and excruciatingly accurate detail–simultaneously lambasting and celebrating the myriad flaws in our earliest project. Carve fifteen minutes out of your day and give this a watch, if only to bask in the gloriously terrible accents and to stare in amazement at how young we all look. It is truly awesome! Thanks, guys!

Gamers 3 Kickstarter is LIVE!!!

In the first 24 hours we have raised 15% of our goal for “The Gamers: Hands of Fate”, the next installment our “The Gamers” series. In The Gamers: Hands of Fate, the cast of internationally acclaimed The Gamers: Dorkness Rising returns for another dice-hurling, waffle-devouring, GM-infuriating romp through worlds of sword, sorcery, and surrealism. InHands of Fate, the gamers must expand their horizons past pen-and-paper RPGs to explore two whole new realms of geekdom – Collectible Card Games (CCGs) and game convention life – and face off against their arch-nemesis: The Shadow!

For the new release, Dead Gentlemen Productions is partnering with sister company and distributor Zombie Orpheus Entertainment (ZOE). ZOE will release the DVD under their FAN SUPPORTED, CREATOR DISTRIBUTED model (link). This includes a broad non-commercial Creative Commons license (link), a copyleft approach to file-sharing and “piracy”, licensing the property for third-party commercial derivative works via the Creator Endorsed trademark (link), a digital release through distribution partner IndieFlix, and distribution to the worldwide hobby market through Paizo Publishing.

“ZOE is a company that believes in building long-term, sustainable relationships with a passionate fan base,” says Ben Dobyns, founder of Zombie Orpheus Entertainment. “Dorkness Rising is a fantastic fit for our approach to distribution and we look forward to helping the film continue to grow as we empower its fans to download, share, and remix the project.”

“We at DG are just really excited about what Ben is doing with ZOE,” said Don Early, President of Dead Gentlemen Productions, LLC. “Having direct interaction and access to our fan base has always been at the top of our priorities. With traditional distribution, you lose a lot of that. With ZOE, the fans get to directly support and participate in what we’re doing, and we get to stay connected. That’s what we’re all about.”

“We’re also excited about this new release of Dorkness Rising,” continues Ben Dobyns, “because this distribution model will help make a Gamers sequel happen much sooner. Our biggest sequel roadblock has been recouping Dorkness Rising’s budget. With the increased dollar value of direct distribution, we’ll be able to recoup and start work on a sequel much sooner than we could while waiting for traditional distribution models to pay out.”

The new DVD of The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is expected to release in April 2011. Fan content and submissions will be encouraged!
