I find Mcsterlingthong to be as fascinating and spellbinding in person as he is in print. His obvious wealth of knowledge in the areas of history, linguistics, mythology and fashion design are inspiring. I look forward to hearing more about him and his endeavors into the more esoteric realms of knowledge whereupon he might bring back for us, the layperson who has so little in the way of informed authors on subjects such as the space lycanthrope, the barbarians struggle with … those often overlooked details, and worlds within worlds next to ….worlds…

I last time I saw R. L. (he still won’t let me call him ‘R.’) was at a convention last year. He was signing books under a sign labeled ‘McCaffrey’ and wearing a ‘Thursday Only’ day pass. I hoped to talk a little shop with him but he wasn’t familiar with my work.
“Is asphyxiation silver?” You see, that’s the kind of detail that no other fantasy author would think of. Inimitable brilliance!
In space, no one can hear you howl.

The girl is not funny.
R.L. is funny.
Way to go.
I’d just like to take this moment to explain Jaime’s role in this. She’s not “meant” to be funny, she was just trying to do the job I asked her to do. Which was to represent Dead Gentlemen Productions and interview R.L. McSterlingthong in this hugely exclusive opportunity for us. She was thrilled, but as you can see, she had her hands full.
In her defense, she did ask all the questions we had her ask. But it IS R.L. McSterlingthong, and really, who can truly prepare for THAT interview?
Gratitude again to Mr. McSterlingthong for the opportunity for the interview. We at Dead Gentlemen Productions felt it went well, as you will see in part 2. Part 2 is of course nearly ready… but we’re waiting on final approval from R.L. He insisted on final cut.
I have to disagree, I’m afraid. In many cases, I found the girl’s reactions funnier that McSterlingthong himself.
Either way, it’s an amusing video.

Probably the best line here is the tagline of Wolfstronaut: “It’s always a full moon–on the MOON!” Hilarious!
I didn’t find him funny. I found him creepy as hell.
He’s also grossly mistaken about how Welsh uses vowels. It’s not that there aren’t any vowels, it’s that there are double consonants like “ll” and “rh” and it uses “w” as a vowel, making a long o-sound “oo.”
I don’t think he knows his stuff, and I’m wondering if this post will even make it to the page, because it looks like everyone here are strawmen planted to support him. In fact, if this comment actually was on the page, it might ruin part of the joke. So I’m wondering what you’ll do with my comment.

It might be worth a minute of your time to Google the esteemed Mr. McSterlingthong. I think that a satisfactory answer to your legitimate concerns isn’t too far away.
