The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is now available through Netflix Watch Instantly! Thanks to our distributor, Anthem Pictures, we got an on-demand deal with Netflix. Tell your friends to check us out on their Netflix queue, and then support us by buying our movie!

I just randomly watched this on Netflix and Dorkness Rising’s (DR) is hilarious. THAC0 and initiative humor usually fall on deaf ears.
Knowing absolutely nothing about DR’s predecessors, I was seduced the second I realized that DR took gaming seriously.
Wikipedia mentioned that DR is the semi-sequel to “The Gamers.” Could you please try to add more of your shorts to Netflix?
I will buy this Dorkness Rising.
Thanks for this brilliant movie.
Wow thanks! We certainly would if Netflix would take our other movies. For now, if you want to check them out, you can find several clips and shorts right here on our website. You can also buy the previous film, The Gamers, if you click on “Store” in the upper right hand part of the page.
Myself, my girlfriend, my sister, and my brother-in-law watched Dorkness Rising last night and thought it was great. We play PnP some times (usually just WHFRP) but me and my sister have been life long PnP fans. Your movie was fun and the cast was hilarious. Thank you so much for getting us back in to the mood.
“He disagreed with the wisdom of my decision…”
Best line in the movie from the best character!
Randomly watched this on Netflix and I loved it and all of it’s awesome glory.
You really nailed player dynamics. It’s clear that The Gamer’s was created by actual RPG players. Dorkness Rising reminds me of when I played AD&D in elementary and middle school — it really hits close to home.
I’m so glad this movie was added to Netflix. I probably never would have known about it and my life would never have been complete.
This just showed up in my Netflix recommendations list, and I adore it! Thanks for spreading the film to a different medium; I don’t know if I would have seen it otherwise.
I too found this randomly recommended on Netflix, watched it and loved it. Funny and fresh, very accurate to RPers and their sense of humor. Really liked it. I hope lots of people will watch it and you guys will get known. Keep up the good work!
I LOVED it!
It made me feel good about myself.
I used to play myself and it brought up good memories
I did get it as a recommendation from Netflix too. I love it so much, that I will buy it.
Great Job!
Just saw this on NetFlix… freakin awesome! It was every gaming session I have ever had.
My wife didn’t get it….poor thing never got to play D&D. I guess now is a good time to get her into it.
I watched this on Netflix. All I can say is that every aspect of this movie brought back every campaign I have been a part of, either player or DM, to memory and laughed my butt off. My girlfriend didn’t understand why I was laughing so hard. Everytime I think about this movie i chuckle. Thank you for giving me something that will forever be stuck in my head that will give me a laugh.
“I am going to Backstab the book” lmao
Why not, it’s prone!
LMAO
This Movie really captured the spirit of gamer geeks while making fun of them at the same time. I absolutely loved it! I’ve got to find the original Gamers movie nowe and hope you have more like this comming down the line. “I hide behind the Mound of Dead Bards!” has now surpassed “I cast Magic Missile at the Darkness!” as my favorite nerdy gamer quote.
This movie was Hilarious. I never played any of these rpg games myself, but still it was funny stuff. I’ve been looking for other movies about gamers now. I’m going to check out more of your stuff. Thanks for making this movie. Great job guys.
My wife put this on our netflix queue because she thought I might like it. We watched it last night and we both loved it! She is not a gamer but still found it to be hilarious. I am and had to pause it to call the other guys I game with and tell them to watch it. We had to pause it several times because I was laughing too hard and yelling, “Yes! that’s exactly how it is!”
Bravo to you for making this film. I shall proudly add it to me collection.
It has been said that laughter is the best medicine. That makes everyone involved in this film a fully licensed Doctor because you made me laugh so hard so many times that I’ll live forever. Unfortunately, though, I’m a bard…
Thanks so much for making such a hilarious, fun, true, and passionate movie. Talk is cheap though, so I’m going to go click on the ‘Buy DVD’ thingy now.
THIS MOVIE WAS AWESOME!!! We watched with a few friends from out of town and we all laughed and had a great time. Can’t wait for each of us to tell at least 10 friends about this movie. Certainly purchasing in for our home library, a must have.
Dorkness Rising made me laugh and laugh and laugh. Please make more movies. Thank you.
I was really impressed with this movie. Incredibly funny, and the plot reminds me of my first game.
Also, kudos for the Sluggy Freelance shirt =P
LOSE 50 XP!
Aaahhhh I have been gaming for over 15 years now, and I just loved this film. Funniest thing was I only saw the Dorkness Rising title and not the gamer title when I was browsing Netflix instant queue. I said to myself this reminds me of that college film The Gamers that my buddy Karl shown us one night. Ah I loved it. HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER ITS A SEQUEL! I’ve been watching it almost every night on netflix. I am so showing this to my gaming group in a couple of weeks (took time off for the holidays), I just hope my copy gets in soon from Amazon! I cannot wait to see what else you guys do!
That’s an awesome throw-back story. I love it. Can I just say how stoked I am about all the exposure we’re getting from Netflix? Way cool. Thanks for all the support folks! Check out the Projects tab on the website to see other stuff we’ve done and are working on.
Wait this is a sequel? and where can I find other stuff like this?
I’ve somehow manage to never ONCE in my 32 years actually PLAY a round of D&D, despite two decades of console and PC RPGs. Your film makes me want to. Desperately. D*mn you.
Hey y’all, I also left a comment on your leave a comment thing… but I just gotta repeat how hysterical Dorkness Rising was. I caught it on Netflix tonight, just by browsing through the new movies, and I’m so glad I watched it. I honestly can’t remember the last time I laughed that hard… but I bet it was at a gaming session.
Some friends of mine found TG:DR on Netflix and wanted us to watch it. So several of us sat down to watch what they had already seen; the single most hillarious and fun time I have ever had watching a movie. I was late getting to where I needed to go so I couldn’t finish it that viewing. So that night I went home and watched it, twice. I keep watching it in hopes that somehow there will be more.
You have got to continue this. I cannot say how awesome it would be to see a third movie or even a fourth. Just keep the same ball rolling. Use that momentum and keep it going. Don’t rush, don’t hurry on our account. Just don’t lose sight of what you started.
My DM had shown my The Gamers several years ago, and found it absolutely hilarious, so many throw-backs to my 20+ years of table top DnD gaming before life added too much distances for weekend games. I was browsing Netflix tonight for something to watch, and found TG:DR without realizing it was a sequel. I watched it with my wife and was pounding the bed from sheer laughter almost non-stop. We kept having to rewind so we can catch what I was rudely interrupting
Great great stuff, so many memories that are drawn up. I miss that time greatly. Keep up the good work!
Found this while browsing netflix, and decided to watch, then had to keep pausing because I was laughing so hard. “Everything’s. Better. With Pirates.” And it’s so true. Thank you for immortalizing my college years (and way to play Munchkin! w00t!) Keep up the good work. :>
Wow! As so many have said already: I caught this on Netflix. I honestly expected a low-budget romp that captured many of the idiosyncrasies and minutia of my hobby much the same way as “Fellowship of the Dice” did. I expected to like it, but not anything too special. I didn’t expect to be convulsing with laughter from some of the razor-sharp comedic sequences. “There are thirty-seven more of me, a$$hole!” comes to mind as does the superb, “…florescence!” “Lose 50 experience.” Right on the money! And of course this only names a few! You guys have elevated the RPG Fantasy Film sub-sub-sub genre! I love this film and can’t wait to own a copy as well as checking out some of the other DG productions. Thank you! Thank you!
Absolutely hilarious… I haven’t tabletop gamed in years, but this brought back all the high-school and college memories in full force, and I was in stitches! From a long-time dork, thank you from the bottom of my dorky heart for this film. Great job with the Netflix deal, you’ve garnered another fan and I look forward to seeing more!
I really liked this, good humor to those that know the gaming world, and kept me laughing throughout the entire movie. This is quality, I don’t need big budget movies for them to be good. I would love to see more of this, new adventures? Maybe some D&D jokes about 4th edition crap. I loved this movie and would really like more of its kind.
The Script…. I want a copy of the script, to put next to my copy of Monty Python’s: Holy Grail. (Shameless suckup attempt)
Please don’t make us spend hours transcoding the movie. Let us download the script!!!!
I randomly decided to watch your movie on Netflix and it had me rolling. I showed it to a bunch of people who all equally loved it. I will buy this movie and support you guys BUT ONLY if you promise to eventually make Gamers 3 with all of the same cast that can participate!!!
Ok ok, I’ll but the movie no matter what, shut it.
Found TG:DR when setting up my Netflix on PS3 and added it to my queue. I watched it tonight and can’t thank you enough for the memories I relived and the laughs I had. It was honest and represented what I see as the whole point of PnP RPG…to have fun! So much better than the D&D movie that took itself too seriously and fell flat! The PnP bug is back now and can’t wait to get a group going again. Hopefully we will get to see the further exploits of The Gamers. Any plans for The Shadow to be made?
I just watched Dorkness Rising on Netflix and I loved it! 5 star for sure. I’m anxious to see more of your work.
Watched Gamers:Dorkness Rising on Neflix…twice…so far. Best indie film I’ve seen in years. Looking forward to seeing your other work and upcoming releases.
It’s hard to go more than a few days without using or hearing a quote from the movie. Well done;)
I am in the same boat as the post above me… Watched Dorkness rising twice this weekend. Quite well done… and great to see this kind of stuff coming from fellow PNW’ers…
Dorkness was great and reminded me of many a session, rule fights, and good times.
wish the first movie was on netflix.
Brilliant film. I love the combination of the actors as players and then characters. Funny as hell. This movie is now on my top 10 of all time, next to Star Wars and LOTR. I naturally shared it with all my gaming friends at our Windows 7 release party (geeky and appropriate). PLEASE MAKE MORE!
Just watched this last night on netflix. Very very amusing movie. Glad I found it, yet I think I join the rest here wishing that the first movie was available on netflix as well. Even as a rental. Keep up the good work, look forward to more stuff from you guys.
Alright, so i watched this movie with relatively low expectations, and can not even begin to express how delighted I was with this movie. I first saw it on Netflix where it was free to stream, after streaming I watched it again a couple days later with a friend because I thought it was so good. This movie reminded me of why playing D&D is so much fun, the way it makes us feel when the quest is over and we still think about it at random points during the coming weeks and how it makes us smile. Unlike other movies that mock the gaming community this movie celebrates it and has an excellently written script. I have nothing bad to say about this movie. I liked it so much I bought the DVD today so that these people would get a reward for such a good time.
Thanks for your support!
I just sat and watched this with my D&D group. This is the most awesome “Indie” movie, we had ever seen! We laughed, we cried, we laughed some more.
I love how you included every type of gamer that I have ever played with: the “noob”, the “die-er”, the “champion”, the “perv”. LOL Just awesomeness all around. I would like to see more DM’s in future movies, however. DM’s can range from the control freak to the Monty Hall. But then, I’m sure that whatever you do next will be awesome.
I am now starting to watch the House Rulez series, and I hope to see more of your stuff soon.
Nathan aka GOD (in my campaigns, of course)
P.S. I was trying to find where you can contact NetFlix to ask them to include more of your movies, but apparently contacting them is not something they want us to do.
I saw this on Netflix about a week ago and am about to buy it.
Awesome movie, keep up the good work.
just 1 q tho:
What is that ninja pizza delivering game that Kevin and Joanna play??
if it is exists i need it.
thanks
Like many others i discoverd you guys when i watched DR on netflix and within the first 10 minutes i loved it . And i was just wondering if there is a way I could donate to you guys without the use of a debit card cause i would love to contribute but I am only 16 and I dont have a debit card. Could i just mail it to you or no?
Thanks for the thought there Justin. If there’s anyway you can buy our movie, that’s the best way to support us. Unless you want to donate all the money your rich Uncle Joe left you in his will… rest his soul.
Lol alright I will defineitly be buying the movie no doubt about that. And as soo as uncle joe passes I make sure the money is sent to you.
I am an avid gamer of over 20 years. DR was spot on! I could name all the players I have ever gamed with as each character in DR. From Cass, the Rules Lawyer, to Joanna, the intellegent unwilling party leader. Loved them all…btw the gentleman who plays Cass looks a lot like my older brother.
Great movie, I hope you all make many more to come. Would love to see the new campaign with…The Shadow.
Good job and be sure that I will buy the movie also! (watched it everyday for the past two weeks on Netflixs….going to watch it again
)
Great movie. Absolutely superb from top to bottom in every way! Fresh humor, good acting, pretty nice sets/scenery/costumes… the crowning achievement of course though was the uncompromising technical dialogue that left me “rofl” – literally.
I wonder if anyone I know that did not play D&D would enjoy this movie like I did? I’m guessing not even close… so anyway… thanks for making a movie for “us”! You guys nailed it! Rock on!
I take that as a challenge! Make them watch it. Let us know how it goes!
I swear, you were spying on my gaming sessions and based all your characters off of my players! The resemblance is uncanny! It was a great laugh and I’ll be buying it as soon as some money frees up. So does it help you guys at all if more and more people watch it on Netflix or you get repeat viewings?
The only metric we see is the number of ratings. I don’t know what kind of internal stats are meaningful to them, but certainly will be citing Dorkness Rising as a success to them when we’re working to get them to carry JourneyQuest. But no, we don’t get paid for multiple viewings, sadly.
Simply spectacular.
I was bored today and in search of a comedic movie to watch. As usual I browsed Netflix stream on my 360 only to find endless amounts of bad raunchy teen sex comedies. Before I gave up, I found your absolute gem of a movie! Fantastic work. While I’ve never played Dungeons and Dragons, I got most of the jokes due to console/computer gaming and it was really hilarious! Like many people on here, I’m sure all of us would love another sequal/sidequal!
Until then, I’ll support you by purchasing this movie and spreading it to everyone I know.
Thanks for an amazing 105 min!
Great movie. I look forward to watching the original. (Oh, and I’ll have to remember to go back and rate it for you … I didn’t think those things mattered at all)
I am curious about one thing though: What was the budget on this film? You obviously put some into costuming and sets (and a little on special effects)
Also, is there another installment in the series planned?
It’s been years since I was KO’d by such unadulterated hilarity. During the scene when Flint the Fine absorbing wave after wave of death rays via character respawns, my body was wracked with so much laughter that I was forced to pause, sit up, and catch my breath. The whole movie was one continuous joke that ran the gamut of my D&D fantasies.
It’s nice to know, that even as adults, there exist the spark of secret joy. Kudos to the team and the actors who made this possible.
I am one of those “non D&D” mentioned above but I am a gamer and familiar with roleplay-Started the movie via netflix comedy list, almost turned it off at the start and curiosity got the best of me and I and a friend watching with me found ourselves sucked in, laughing and right on line now looking for previous or next…
I hope you intend to continue the series and attach the info to email for those of us that have supplied it. I now wish I was in an area where I could rold play, this would have made it a certainty to try if I could!!! Thank you!!! FUN!!
Same with everyone above I started watching it on XBOX Netflix on demand and fell in love with it. I had to restart it for my wife and we both loved it. I then told several friends about it and they all loved it too. We can’t wait for the next movie!
Are you doing anything at ComicCon this year? I live in San Diego so I go every year.
I watched Dorkness Rising the other week on Netflix, simply because it seemed like my type of humor. I must admit I had low expectations at first, but it is now one of my favorite “cult” movies. The solid acting by all the main characters really surprised me, and some of the interactions between Nathan Rice and Scott Brown had me laughing out loud. I had flashbacks of college…and of selling my first edition AD&D Dungeon Master Guide for $35 and thinking it was a great deal at the time….oops.
The outtakes in the credits were hilarious as well (nice nod to Monty Python’s Holy Grail by the way).
Please tell me there is a third movie in the future!
Just watch this movie on netflix out of curiousity. It was just great in everyway. Wondering if there was a sequel or going to be one? Oh already saw the first film thought it was really good too!
Anywho Keep up the work will be supporting you guys in the future.
Production values, acting and story all way way up from when you guys started…and it was enjoyable and funny back then. Good on ya!
Saw this at a friend’s via Netflicks–truly awesome.
Pitch perfect–my favorite moment–when Cass gets Lodge to search for board pieces under the table and uses the moment to rearrange the figurines to enhance reaction time so their party will get less-slaughtered.
Rule-abiding Joanna looks at him… and says nothing.
Oh yeah!
Spreading the word for you now–& just had to stop by here to thank you for the movie.
Netflix. Recommended it with a 4.2, the highest recommendation score it has ever predicted for my tastes, and now I’m afraid some algorithm somewhere has taken away my free will. But then again, I would have rated this movie a 5. Or better yet, a natural 20.
For some reason Gamers doesn’t appear to have streaming options any more for me. For that matter Amazon has been sold out of the DVD for at least a month. Whats going on guys?
